About Us

The Kiama Woodcraft Group Inc. is a small but active woodworking club based in Kiama, in the Illawarra region of NSW, Australia:

We meet on the third Tuesday of every month (except December) at the Joyce Wheatley Community Centre (click link for directions), located next to the Kiama Masonic Hall.

Meetings commence at 7:00 pm and generally finish at about 9:30 pm. Access into the JWCC is via the rear of the building, next door to the Kiama Masonic Hall.

Details of upcoming meetings are listed on the Events page.

Generally, a guest speaker is invited to each meeting to demonstrate woodworking skills or to discuss an interesting topic or a member of the group will demonstrate a particular skill. Meetings also include upcoming events, general discussions and show and tell – a time to show off your latest work or seek help with that disaster we are all too familiar with.

Visitors are always welcome to come to a meeting to see what we do and join the group.

NOTE: For October and November, our meetings will be held at the Jamberoo School of Arts, while the Joyce Wheatley Community Centre is undergoing renovations.

Exhibitions and Sales

Old Fire Station Gallery

At least two exhibitions and sales of members’ work are held each year at Kiama’s Old Fire Station Gallery. The exhibitions attract a large number of visitors, especially during the Christmas holiday period. Restored traditional tools are also available for sale during our exhibitions.

Next exhibition: planned for January 2025, dates TBD

Annual Woodworking Expo

A woodworking Expo is held yearly which draws interest from woodworking clubs from around the South Coast, Southern Highlands and Sydney regions. Entry is FREE.

Approximately 2000 people pass through the doors during the Expo weekends. The aim of the Expo is to stimulate interest in woodcraft by showcasing a variety of demonstrations from members including woodturning, carving, fretwork and box making.

The Expo also hosts a specialty timber merchant providing sales of native and exotic timbers. Timber is available as dressed slabs, smaller lengths, pen blanks and burls.

KWG members also exhibit a myriad of woodwork items available for purchase at very reasonable prices.

Next Expo: Kiama Masonic Hall, 8-9 March 2025
